At Shakti Psychotherapy I adopt an integrative approach.
I am fully qualified and trained as a Counsellor accredited by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and a Cognitive Behaviour therapist, accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive psychotherapies(BABCP)
I am also a trained practitioner in Eye Movement Desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
I am committed to protecting data that is collected about you and I will only gather the information that is appropriate for providing you with therapy.
The following date will need to be collected for the purposes of providing a therapeutic service:
Personal data will include: name, address, contact details
Sensitive Data including the GP details. Family details, lifestyle, social circumstances, mental health history, Medication.
Contact Date: Billing address, email address and telephone
Financial & Transactional data: Payments received via Bacp will appear on the bank account
How we obtain the personal information and why we have it:
The client would freely contact the service and provide this information over the telephone/email. No data is requested to be sent directly via the website.
Once you have contacted the service and it is deemed that I can support you, then an assessment would be arranged to ensure information is complete for the purposes of providing therapy.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we collect information is that you consent to provide this information in order for Shakti Psychotherapy to deliver a psychotherapy service.
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
To provide clients with a psychotherapy service
To notify clients about changes to appointments and other changes to the service
To advise of Billing details
To fulfil my administrative legal , ethical and contractual obligations as a psychotherapist
What information do i share?
The therapist-client relationship encompasses confidentiality,
Whilst information will not be shared with others, unless written consent is provided by the client.
There are some occasions when confidential information would need to be released, even without your consent, especially in the case of risk or harm to yourself or others including children or adults. I may share your information with medical professionals in the case of risk to self or others.
I may share your information with the relevant authorities, i.e Gp, Safeguarding services, Social services, Police etc if I have reason to believe that this may prevent serious harm occurring to you or third parties.
As a therapist I comply with ethical practice and attend regular supervision. As part of supervision I would present a case to a supervisor, which is common practice. I may present your case to a supervision in the interest of providing a better service to the client. where appropriate information shared is confidential.
Compliance with the law: If requested to submit information then i would legally need to comply.
How do I store your information safely?
All information you provide is stored safely. I take all responsible precautions to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of information you provide me.
All paper forms and correspondence are kept in a locked filing cabinet No information is stored on any computer. As part of the contract your data is Stored for uptown 6/7 years
If emails are sent to you, i use an encrypted email address. and will only be sent by info@Shaktipsychotherapy.com
Your identifiable personal information is kept separately from any session notes and other descriptive material. Client notes and other documentation are destroyed 7 years after the end of therapy.
Your Rights:
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
-Access your personal data : We want to ensure that all information that we hold about you is accurate and up to date-Rectify , erase or restrict your data: if you believe information that we hold may be inaccurate you have the right tor request a change.
-Object to the processing of your data

There is a legal requirement for me to keep certain information for 7years.
You may withdraw your consent for me to hold and process your data at any time However, if you do this while actively receiving psychotherapy, your psychotherapy would have to end. You can withdraw your consent by stating this on the email to:
